New for winter 2026/27: on the peninsula at Lake Turrach, a winter world is taking shape – a place to play, marvel and linger. By day it’s all about sliding, crawling and exploring – and when the sun sinks behind the Nockberge mountains, the lake begins to glow. Open daily and free of charge for all guests.
Slides, tunnels, igloo fun.
At the WinterWonderLand, the snow itself becomes the playground. Children whizz down snow slides and land softly on the airbag, disappear into crawl tunnels and pop out laughing on the other side. Igloos and snow cubes invite little explorers to discover, hide and catch their breath. And at the target-throwing station, every hit makes itself heard.
When the lake starts to glow.
As dusk falls, the peninsula turns into an enchanting world of light: rows of trees light up, projections bathe the church in light and colour, patterns drift across the snow, and light art installations add glowing accents between igloos, slides and paths. The perfect way to round off your last run of the day – or an evening stroll you’ll remember for a long time.
Gather round the fire.
Right in the middle, the fire pit crackles – the meeting point for families, friends, guests and locals. Warm your hands, swap stories about the best runs of the day and watch the kids at play. Skier or not: the WinterWonderLand is for everyone who loves winter beyond the slopes, too.
Built from snow. Designed with care.
The structures are made mostly of snow and are removed without a trace at the end of the season, while the equipment can be reused for winters to come. That’s what makes the WinterWonderLand such a natural fit for Turracher Höhe: plenty to experience, hardly a trace left behind – in the heart of the UNESCO Nockberge Biosphere Reserve.
